Love of Books helped me from start to finish.
I am a dietitian and know nothing about publishing books. Love of Books took my printed word document, offered enormous amounts of advice and support and turned my word document into a magnificent book.
Julie provided me with one on one contact and guidance every step of the way. Words cannot express my gratitude to Julie and her assistance through this whole process, which ranged from formatting my book, to the type of paper to use, to advice regarding photos, to margins to use, to the cover design, to tweaking the photos to look professional and more.
I cannot thank you enough Julie and your team at Love of Books.
Many thanks Julie. Kerry Withoos, www.irritablebowels.com.au
… Love of Books staff, their professional approach to publishing is second to none. My previous experience with publishers/agents over the last three years has been constantly negative and condescending. I am a Dementia/Alzheimer’s sufferer but that was not a problem for them at any stage, they were very patient and supportive and could not help me enough; nothing was ever too much trouble. Dealing with Love of Books restored my confidence and I feel good about myself. I could not speak highly enough of them, they just ooze professionalism; my book would not have seen the light of day without them. Purchase in the love of Books Shop.
After having my last two books published by traditional publishers, I decided to try Love of Books to self publish. Love of Books could certainly teach the traditionals a few things. They were always willing to talk to me at any time, and made me feel that they had an interest in my project. Their final production of my latest book “Heart of the Wind” was excellent. I would certainly suggest, even to published authors that they try Love of Books and be pleasantly surprised.

I am delighted with the quality of service and the price provided by Love of Books. I had published my books with another publisher, but switched to Love of Books when a friend recommended the company and I saw the presentation of her book. Thankyou Julie for the care and attention you paid to getting my books and covers just right, and your prompt, efficient and ‘loving’ service. I have recommended another to you, and will continue to come back. My three books, ‘The Energy Book for Life’, ‘Clear Your Mind, and ‘Faith, Confidence and Being Your Best’ look fabulous. Robert And Larrane QldRecently, we used the services of ‘Love of Books’ to professionally print a family history book we had written as a family keepsake. Having no previous experience in printing a book, and having a deadline to meet, we needed to ascertain how to go about it, the formatting requirements, how long it would take and the cost. We wanted personal contact with someone we could discuss these issues with face to face, rather than trying to deal with a faceless person over the internet or telephone. When we first made contact with Julie McGregor, Director of ‘Love of Books’ she fully appreciated our needs and arranged to meet us. Julie readily answered all our queries and it soon became apparent that she was technically across all the issues involved in getting a book printed. She assured us that our deadline could meet. What impressed us most was that Julie was genuine and straightforward in all her answers and came across as someone we believed we could rely on. From this initial meeting until the final draft for printing, a time frame that also included having to have a book cover designed, we found that Julie made herself willingly available by email, telephone or personal contact. She promptly answered and addressed any issues or problems as they arose. Her diligence took any possible frustration and stress out of the whole process making it an overall enjoyable experience. Not only was it possible to get our book printed but it was to our satisfaction and within our tight deadline. Our experience with ‘Love of Books’ was a very positive one and we have no hesitation in recommending Julie Mc Gregor to anyone who may be thinking of printing or publishing a book. Sandy NorrieI want to thank you Julie for being so helpful. I had no idea when I undertook this project what I was doing, all I knew is that I wanted to put my dad’s words in writing for my family and future generations. You were so helpful and supportive all along the way and nothing was too much trouble. I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish this without your help and advice and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The staff at Love of Books were wonderful in helping me achieve the desired effect before my book went to print. Julie spent untold hours with me via email and on the phone and I can’t thank her enough as I am totally delighted with the result. They really stand by their belief that with a little help publishing a book is achievable.
Margaret FingerI am happy to recommend Love of Books publishing to any prospective author. I found Julie to be most professional and very competitive in her pricing. She went out of her way to make sure the book was printed in the time-frame we had agreed upon. What I especially thank her for was the way she made herself available to be contacted seven days a week. Not for the Faint Hearted- Eliza’s Story is a memoir book set in the last half of the nineteenth century. Eliza relates how her family took up a virgin block of land in the Central Highlands region of Queensland. It is a story of hardship told with a great deal of humour and she also tells of the struggle between the pioneers and the indigenous people in that time of our history. Visit mfinger@bigpond.net.au
I would like to thank you for all the work you did in helping usself publish Emma’s book.Without your help it would have been impossible.I appreciated the kind way you dealt with us, the fantastic ideas you had and the prompt way that you dealt with our requests. The book ‘Plane Crazy’ presents very well and has sold out. Most of this I am sure is in the presentation that you helped us with. I would like to recommend you to others as I feel your company gives superior service at a reasonable cost. In fact I believe it is excellent value for money. Zillah WilliamsI was very pleased to find Love of Books when I was looking for a way to self publish my book Healing is a Way of Life. Love of Books, having the advantage of being based in Australia, made self-publishing a real option for me. As I went through the process, Julie, the Director, was extremely helpful – patiently answering my questions, either by email or phone. She made the process an interesting and rewarding experience. Dawn FosterI was not going to entrust my four-year project with amateurs, nor was I going to hand my baby to cold and ruthless strangers. I needed to breathe life into my book; after all, the first two words of the title are – LIFE AND LOVE. Love of Books nurtured LIFE LOVE TAROT from infancy to maturity. They are a family of professionals, and I would never consider going elsewhere for my future books to self publish with them. Visit http://www.dawnalicebooks.com
Suellen RetschlagIn preparing to write my book ‘The Op Shoppers Guide to Brisbane and surrounding areas’ I conducted a considerable amount of research regarding the process for writing and self-publishing a book. I bought books on the topic, read numerous articles, and spent hours surfing the internet for information. During my internet searching, it was my extreme good fortune that I came across the website www.loveofbooks.com.au. Love of Books is practically a one-stop-shop. Not only has Love of Books printed a lovely book for me, advice regarding publishing, marketing, and their assistance with developing my website www.opshoppersguide.com has been invaluable. Anything to do with the process, from start to finish, Julie and Jade at Love of Books have been able to point me in the right direction to self publish my book. Their enthusiasm and praise over my manuscript was greatly appreciated and I sincerely thank them for this, in addition to their friendly and generous support throughout the process.
As a first time author I knew that I had written a book that was worth sharing but had no idea of how I was going to get it into print. The thing I found was that none of the supposed literary agents returned my calls and looking at the web sites of possible publishers – even the ones who purported to specialise in my chosen genre of book – left me discouraged and thoroughly disheartened about firstly costs to be incurred before submitting it to them and then secondly the time expected to be taken before any of them might be likely to even look at it. I had a work that had been gone over many times by myself and proof read by several others so was confident there was not too much that needed doing to it. After being advised by Australian author Peter Shann Ford – The Keeper of Dreams – to go the self publishing route we investigated some possibilities on the internet and were impressed by the professionalism and helpfulness of Love of Books. Having worked in the field of graphic design and layout myself I presented my print ready book and cover design and was most grateful for the help and support of Julie, John and the team both before, during and after the process. Approximately six weeks later I had the printed copies in my hand – in time for a family reunion – and with the third printing now in the pipeline I am very glad I came to Love of Books to self publish my book and I would not hesitate to recommend them.
