Love of Books processes are too easy!  Firstly, you need to map out your required services. We offer manuscript appraisals if you need help determining whether or not you need editing. Have you got a cover design set up in your own program but need this transferred and recreated in the professional design program?

Do you want to expand your Facebook or twitter page and have a professional design a website for you? The good thing about Love of Books is our quotes can be adjusted. During the process, if you decide to have a website built or poster designed and printed, no worries!

1. The Preliminary Quote

Read through all the steps and be sure to look around our website. The Love of Books website is full of important information for you to make an informed decision about your self publishing needs.

We are very happy to discuss and provide you with the support and information to make your dream to self publish come true. Our packages are flexible, and can be adjusted to include extra services such as website or poster design at any time. We provide discounts and specials so be sure to check these out!

Just a few questions required to determine your book type, size and amount etc. You can complete the quote request form online, attend in person for by interview or telephone us for this initial no obligation requirement. You will receive a preliminary quote based on your selections.

Accepting the quote.

Check that your new quote meets your needs. Complete any details for delivery arrangements etc. This is preliminary quote so naturally common changes along the way such as page and design variations are taken into account.

Organize your deposit. Payments can be made to Love of Books by bank, cheque, credit card or cash.

For continued use of our services, a deposit is required. This deposit is an acceptance of your quote.

Note: If you change your mind after a deposit is paid you will be required to pay an administration fee of $300.00 along with any other costs for services already provided.

Payment options are:

1. Full payment upfront.

This entitles you to 5% discount off your total purchase price. (This option is being trialed for all new customers).

Note: All accepted quotes using this option must be paid for within 7 days of the date noted on the top of your original quote form. Unfortunately there are no exceptions.

If your Manuscript is not complete or ready to send yet, you can secure and lock in your discounted package while completing your preparations. We will work with you when you are ready.

2. 50% deposit once you have accepted your quote.

3. Lay-by which requires a 30 % deposit once you have accepted your quote.

We will work with your manuscript on a ‘pay as you go’ basis. Your new books will be delivered to your door shortly after your final payment.


2. Welcome Pack and Handy Hints

Next you will receive a welcome pack that includes extra information on how to self publish as well as a few simple forms such as ISBN and CiP registrations.

These forms enable us to work with you on your files personally and professionally.


3. Your Manuscript

Our eBook, website and handy hints offer you suggestions for writing your manuscript.

If you are worried about your manuscript we are able to offer appraisal services that provide you with professional feedback; highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the story and/or character development, as well as style and content. This will ensure your manuscript will be ready to self-publish.


4. Proofreading and Editing

This is an essential step for all manuscripts. If you choose to do this for yourself, note that it is important to have some time between writing and editing. This helps to provide some objectivity in looking at your work. However, it is always advisable to get someone else to look over your work.

If you don’t have someone in mind (could be a family member or a friend), or you want to ensure professional attention to your work, we are able to provide this service for you.

Remember a finely polished manuscript has a greater chance of success.

5. Choosing the book size and binding options.

Firstly do some research to determine your book size and binding options. Have a look in your favorite bookstore or on your book shelf for ideas. We are happy to advise of the most cost-effective and durable options.

Next you will need to know the number of books you require to be printed. We are happy to advise you of the most cost-effective process for your specific needs.

Time to use our adjustment option to NOW lock in your quote with any changes requested or required to page count book type etc.

ALL BOOK PRINTING PRICES INCLUDE GST ALONG WITH 2 FREE BOOK PROOFS FOR PAPERBACK COVER BOOKS.

Minimum book order required at present is 10 for Hard Covered books and 50 for other types. To order less than 100 books, your cost will be slightly higher than the unit price per book.

6. Cover Design & Formatting

Despite the old saying ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, it is important to note that cover design is essential in ensuring a professional looking book. Most importantly a good cover increases your ability to market your book and achieve higher sales.

Inside your book, correct formatting can be quite tricky. Margins, chapter headings, page numbers, justifications, drop caps, spacing, fonts and indenting are all aspects that you will need to be familiar with.

You can however take advantage of our services; we have the experience and expertise to sort out all the tricks and glitches that can arise.

Our designers can also help you achieve your book cover vision. Even if you have already got a cover design, we can help you transfer or recreate this in a professional design program.

Our designer will send you a PDF format of your manuscript in sections. This will allow you to approve the layout within the first few pages.

Your welcome pack has a design form for you to complete. Simply complete the form then return it. We will work with you to create a stunning book cover.

Please note: If you are not selecting our service during your journey to self publish, we must have your full, completed manuscript for formatting, or if you are not selecting our formatting services, it needs to be sent to us in PDF format.

7. ISBN and/or CiP services

ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a 13 – digit number that identifies books or book like products that are published internationally. It supports efficient marketing of the product by booksellers, libraries, wholesalers and distributors.

CiP (Cataloging in Publication) is a service provided by the National library of Australia to provide a catalogue record for a publication. This needs to be requested after the ISBN, but before the book is published.

BowkerLink is a database used by booksellers, independent bookshops and libraries internationally. Adding your title to Bowkerlink will enable your book to be available for sale to thousands of bookstores world-wide.

Love of Books can complete these processes for you at the cost of $280.00 as an ISBN Package.

LOVE OF BOOKS ISBN PACKAGE

You simply complete a simple form with your details and we do the rest!

What is included:

  • We obtain your ISBN number for your new book.
  • We will supply your BARCODE and place it on the back of your book cover.
  • We send copies of your book (paid for by us) to the relevant libraries as part of our services provided in the ISBN package.
  • We will register your title with Bowkerlink.
  • We will provide a copyright information page for you to personalize.

The BowkerLink™ system provides publishers with an automated tool to update or add to their listings in Bowker’s Global Books In Print database. Publishers may also view and update their publisher contact information.

Australian and New Zealand data appears in the Global Books in Print online and CD-Rom products. Your new book will be available for sale in thousands of bookstores world-wide. Data on Australian-published and New Zealand-published titles also appears in Australian Books in Print and New Zealand Books in Print, respectively.

You will receive your ISBN number in your own name, your bar code on the back of your book cover along with your CiP & Bowkerlink registration. We will also post the books to the required libraries.

8. Proof copy

After approving the files, your book (unbound but printed) will be delivered to you.

The next step is for you to check this proof copy and if necessary, make any required changes. A second proof copy can be sent to ensure you are 100% happy.


9. Book Printing

Once you have approved your book proof, you will receive your new books within a few weeks.

All books are guaranteed for binding quality and are delivered to your nominated address.


10. Marketing

When embarking on your vision to self publish, you can’t ignore the essential need to market your work. As part of our service, we will send you a free marketing information pack. This pack has comprehensive information as well as handy tips and ideas. You will then be equipped to develop your own marketing plan.

Whether you need posters, business cards, flyers or bookmarks, we can help produce quality and effective marketing material.
